Generally, people think that science has solutions to most of our queries about the universe. However, it’s not always possible. These questions can be visualized from mathematical view also.
What is mathematical Modeling
Here comes ‘Mathematical Modelling’. Mathematical Modeling is the practice of making sense of the world through an eye of mathematics. In other words, it simplifies real-world problems into mathematical problems and after solving these problems converting them back to real life solutions.
We can use mathematics to make decisions in everyday life.
Take an example: Want to make ‘cake’. Search the recipe. Does the recipe have enough servings to feed everyone? If not, will need to modify it to suit the need perhaps by doubling or halving the amount of each ingredient? Modifying the flavor according to one’s taste. How much time it takes to bake? Baking time is machine dependent.
Now, we see this problem from Mathematics perspective.
There is something to count (e.g. no. of servings) or measure (e.g. quantity of flavor) and the answers to these questions have real implications for our lives. Also, the mathematical models can be used to optimize output. The system under consideration will require some inputs (like decision variables, constraints etc) and after some computations, the output can be optimized.
Apart from Mathematics, there are various fields where mathematical modeling can be put to use-Architecture, Astronomy, Biology, Economics, Numerical Analysis –to name a few.
Mathematical modeling works on the hope that one can solve any problem mathematically; however, this is quite ambitious.
