Change is the law of nature. With time every phenomenon requires advancement, be it in technology or teaching. In this spirit, the Department of Mathematics at Manav Rachna University initiated the introduction of laboratory component along with its each theory subject. Be it B. Tech., B.Sc. (H) or M.Sc. mathematics course. The idea which initially seemed impossible for a dry subject like Mathematics indeed revolutionized the art of teaching, learning and visualizing mathematics. The students are introduced not to single but a family of mathematical software’s during the course of their degree program
A two-hour hands-on session in each subject lab along with a three-hour workshop course per week makes student well versed and fully equipped with the latest technology.

- Scilab
- Excel Solver
- Excel etc.
Students learn to do fast mathematical computations, create graphical visualizations of the possible solutions obtained under different assumptions and analyze the results.

Moreover, a programmer with a mathematical foundation is born. Student learns to write code, make function files for various operations and blend them together to execute a program. With the help of software like LaTeX, student gets the skill of writing documents in professional mathematical style as required in journals, books etc. The software’s like SPSS, Excel, Excel solver provides a platform for Statistical computations which are in high demand in the industry.
The students have become highly tech-savvy. It is this confidence that made final year M.Sc. Mathematics, MRU students to conduct a workshop for B.Sc. (H) mathematics students at Aggarwal College, Ballabhgarh in September this year, along with the faculty members. The new dimension added has amplified the image and confidence of the faculty as well as the students of the Department of Mathematics thereby, promising students a high tech degree with a bright future.
